The Loneliness of the Days: A Representation of Interpersonal Relationships Influenced by the Living and Natural Conditions of the Land of Fire in the Work of Francisco Coloane

This thesis deals with the literary work of Francisco Coloane Cárdenas. The aim was to outline the characteristic features of the author's short stories. For this purpose, it was necessary to characterize the setting of the Land of Fire, to approximate the behavior of the literary characters and, on this basis, to sketch a picture of interpersonal relationships in general and specifically in the individual stories. The thesis is devoted to a content and formal analysis of more than fifteen of Coloane's short stories. For this purpose, the author has used primary sources, secondary literature and audiovisual recordings. Finally, she summarizes the meaning and message of Coloane's short stories in Chilean and world literature.
